Salvatore (Sam) Torrisi is a clarinetist and neuroscientist. On his music side, he went to CSU East Bay and California Institute of the Arts and joined the Golden Gate Park Band in 2025. His clarinet teachers have included Rudy Tapiro, Rosario Mazzeo, Sean Krissman and Rebecca Tobin Krissman. He also performs chamber music and subs for community orchestras around the bay. On his science side, Sam attended UCLA with a postdoc at NIH, and does MRI-based research in the department of Radiology at UCSF and the SFVA hospital. He has a proclivity for cranking up the image spatial resolution to study the functions of small brain regions.
