Ben received a Bachelors and Masters degrees in music from The Juilliard School, where his principal teachers were Warren Deck, Dave Fedderly, and Joseph Alessi.

He is a versatile freelance tuba player with experience in genres ranging from solo, band, and orchestral to jazz, dixieland, and circus. He has been a lecturer in tuba at Columbia University and the St Thomas Choir School in New York. His performance credits include the Baltimore Symphony, National Symphony, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and the Washington Symphonic Brass.

Bin substituted in GGPB starting in the 2022 season, and was appointed to a regular position with the band following regional auditions in 2023.
